An entrepreneur from the time he was 12, David started selling promotional stickers that his neighbor gave him for free to his friends and classmates at school. Before he knew it, the entire class had his stickers on their lunchboxes, desks, books and shoes.

 In 1991, he began selling wholesale merchandise such as knives, tools, sporting goods and apparel items at trade shows and swap meets. In 1995 his logo'd apparel and promotional product business was born by “accident” when he was selling Disney branded ‘Mickey Mouse’ baseball jerseys in a local restaurant (guerilla marketing style) one evening when the owner of The Derby approached him. The owner wanted to buy the rest of the inventory, and have his logo printed on the jerseys so he could sell them to his patrons.

David agreed… and in just four days he discovered a proprietary way to take The Derby logo off of a creased dirty menu and print the logo cleanly onto the shirts. Voila! 123 Logos was created out of thin air.

Shirt sales for The Derby were better than the owner anticipated and repeat orders began coming in. Seeing how this helped to increase the profits for this restaurant (and for David), he began getting other restaurants to invest in his custom imprinted shirts.

This was the beginning of a life-long passion for the imprinted apparel and logo’d products industry. And in spite of the negative criticism from a few friends saying that the imprinted products venture was a fluke and wouldn’t last, business really boomed.

123 Logos changed gears in 2002 and began focusing on serving the contracting and manufacturing industry. These industries sought 123 Logos because they had three unique challenges: 1) they needed to increase their employee morale and productivity, 2) they needed to increase their sales and profits without increasing their marketing budget (they were losing a lot of money with magazine, yellow pages, billboard, TV and radio advertising), and 3) it was imperative and vital to their business to decrease the amount of work-related injuries and accidents.

Amazingly, all of these challenges were overcome by creatively using inexpensive yet strategic promotional products as well as certain embroidered and screen-printed apparel items.

In 2005, David Yow and his wife of 10 years, Kris, moved their embroidery and screen-printing business and built a new home in a less crowded corner of the world in beautiful North Idaho. This was a gutsy move because they left their family and many friends behind in Atlanta, Georgia – knew almost no one, and had virtually no contacts in the northwest. This move and change in lifestyle later proved to be imperative to their creativity, productivity (and sanity), and also proved to be very profitable because business increased like never before.

A lover of the outdoors, Dave and Kris enjoy the thrill of snow skiing, snowmobiling, target shooting and ATVing. They enjoy playing with their three dogs (two Jack Russell’s and one Akita/Lab), and spending time on their 20 acres of land at their Idaho estate.

Mr. Yow is an active member of Rotary International. He dedicates time and resources to several organizations including local Humane Societies, Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots as well as Wounded Warrior Project and other causes to help our under appreciated soldiers and veterans.

A lifelong learner, David's always got a book in his hand and a personal development or marketing CD in his car.
